Benefits of a positive Rapid fFN® result
Opportunities for better patient management
Approximately 20% of patients will receive a positive Rapid fFN® result.1 This identifies patients that are at an increased risk for preterm labor and crates an opportunity to provide them with optimal care.
A positive Rapid fFN® result can help:
- Identify patients for interventions such as the following:
- Antenatal steroids
- Magnesium sulfate
- Patient counseling
A positive Rapid fFN® result can help:
- Make appropriate preparation for optimal neonatal care:
- Admissions
- Transfers
Optimal administration of steroids
A single course of corticosteroids is recommended for women at high risk of preterm delivery. However, timing is important because ACOG recommends no more than 2 doses during the course of a pregnancy. Both negative and positive fFN test results can help guide management decisions related to administration of antenatal corticosteroids.2
